In this episode I had the opportunity to interview Father Seth, the lead pastor of an Anglican Church in Dallas, Texas. His church is part of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). Anglican has always fascinated me due to its similarities and parallels to Catholicism.

FOOTNOTES:
Article 16 says, “Not every deadly sin willingly committed after Baptism is sin against the Holy Ghost, and unpardonable. Wherefore the grant of repentance is not to be denied to such as fall into sin after
Baptism. After we have received the Holy Ghost, we may depart from grace given, and fall into sin, and by the grace of God we may arise again, and amend our lives. And therefore they are to be condemned, which say, they can no more sin as long as they live
here, or deny the place of forgiveness to such as truly repent.” This was in response to the Roman Catholic doctrine of mortal sin which teaches that you can fall from a state of grace and need to do penance to be restored. The grace received in baptism covers
all sins. It was also a response to sectarian Reformers who viewed sin after baptism as a sign you are not a member of the elect. It taught the extreme grace of God to cover all sins.
Regarding the ontological change in ordination: The Reformed Anglican position is that priests are
authorized to celebrate the Eucharist but the power comes from the Holy Spirit. The Reformers and modern day low church Anglicans like J.I. Packer do not subscribe to the idea that priests undergo an ontological change giving them power to confect the Eucharist. Thus, a lay person doing so would be disordered and forbidden but we are open to other ministers like Baptists and Presbyterians also having valid sacraments.
