House Republicans are debating the massive reconciliation bill, with unresolved policy fights that could jeopardize President Donald Trump’s "Big, Beautiful Bill." These debates involve proposed cuts to food programs for the needy and determining a final amount for state and local tax deductions. In the Commerce Committee, lawmakers are focusing on finding $880 billion in savings over the next 10 years from the Medicaid program. Republicans argue that the savings will come from eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. However, dozens of disabled Americans gathered outside the committee to express concern. Meanwhile, the Ways and Means Committee is addressing the issue of state and local tax deductions. Republicans are divided, with some pushing for an increase in the current deduction of $30,000, arguing it isn’t enough. Several GOP members have already expressed opposition to the bill, citing insufficient spending cuts. In response, House Speaker Mike Johnson remains confident that a compromise can be reached. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
